Throughout my childhood, I was told about a number of foods that are unhealthy for me and even combinations of foods that will cause me to die if I consume them.
Growing up, I recall hearing that you shouldn’t have garri just after consuming mango.
There was a vegetable back then that everyone said was deadly and that if we ate it, it would kill us.
Only God knows where that misleading information originated, but I am certain that both you and I have at some point held the misconception that certain meals are unhealthy. Although some foods become unhealthy if not consumed in the proper quantities
Just a few misconceptions about food and healthy eating are what I’ll be talking about today; not even meal combinations.
Let’s think about a few:
- Only Fish are healthy Meats are not
- Whole eggs are only for young people, elderly ones should eat egg white only
- Fruits contain excessive sugar
- Carbohydrates are bad for you and should be avoided
- Skinny means unhealthy
- Snacking is bad for you
Only fish are healthy meat is not: False, Both are excellent sources of protein. Despite the fact that some studies have linked a diet high in red meat to cardiovascular disease, lean meat consumption in moderation is healthy.
Adults should only eat egg white; only children and teenagers should consume whole eggs.
Despite having cholesterol, eggs are nevertheless quite healthful when consumed in moderation. In actuality, eggs contain a lot of nutrients and are essential for both young and adults. Even though eggs are excellent sources of protein, consuming simply the whites may not give you enough nourishment.
Fruits contain excessive sugar

Skinny means unhealthy
Many people claim that if you are healthy because of your low body weight. No! Body weight is not the best predictor of internal health; what you eat has a significant impact on your health. You can be overweight and healthy or thin and unhealthy. You are what you eat!
Snacking is unhealthy
Snacking turns unhealthy when you choose unhealthy snacks; choosing nutrient-dense foods like fruits, veggies, or nuts is the secret to good snacking.
